The faint marks are every other quest objective recorded in this zone. There is no zone artwork here, so they stand in for the coastline: quests only send you where the zone is walkable.

  • practice. Convention among strong players. Widely followed, but it is not a rule and it can be wrong.Open your own quest log map. If the game draws no marker there, you are not in the phase for it, and that is definitive. Trust the game over us, and tell us in the comments so we can record it.

What To Do

Complete the quest objective shown in your tracker in Howling Fjord, then return to the turn-in NPC.

Quest Text

Do you see those vrykul buildings on the bluffs to the northeast? The vrykul call that place Nifflevar. It's where most of their harpoon attacks on our frigates originate. Well guess what? The time for payback has come, {name}. I need you to take this harpoon control mechanism and meet up with Lieutenant Icehammer, who is hiding out in a vrykul building northwest of Nifflevar. When you're ready I'll place you on the back of one of our gryphons and zip you right to him!

Field notes

Objectives and map pin

Blizzard's public API publishes a quest's text and rewards but not its objectives, its own level, whether it can be shared, or any map coordinate. Nobody has synced quest 11427 yet, so there is nothing to show here rather than a guess. Running the WowGodSync addon while you play contributes those fields for everyone.

Have I done this?

Check it in game

Quest completion is stored per character on Blizzard's side and is not in the public API, so paste this in your chat box and it prints true or false for “Meet Lieutenant Icehammer...” on the character you are logged into.

Completion check
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(11427))
Warband-wide check (11.0+)
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompletedOnAccount(11427))

A false also comes back for a quest id the client does not know, so it means “not recorded as complete” rather than proof the quest exists on your account.
